About

Me

Above is an example of an "Inside Jacksonville" episode that I produced during my final semester at UNF.

Kyle Ashley is a recent graduate of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville with a Bachelors of Science degree in communication with a focus on journalism. He also has a minor in sports marketing/management, giving him a better understanding of the world of sports from a business perspective.

An avid Jacksonville Jaguars and SEC fan, he is able to analyze the game in the most basic sense all the way down to the X's and O's. However, his affinity for sports goes beyond professional and collegiate football. It includes learning about all types of athletes on and off the field. His passion is driven by a belief that sports offer more than just entertainment – sports teaches you about life as well. Traits like hard work, discipline, and being a part of a team are all attributes that build character.

While kicking a field goal isn’t one of his skills, working hard and being part of a team off the field is something he achieved when he was recognized by his employer Fanatics, a sports merchandise company, this past football season. His multiple guest service awards include “Leader of the Pack” and “Big Cat Scratch-Offs.” He received these honors by effectively communicating and connecting with guests at the games. As part of his employee recognition, he was also invited to attend the Jacksonville Jaguars End of the Season award celebration, an exclusive event for award recipients.

Kyle also greatly improved his skills in his final semester by producing "Inside Jacksonville" and being the sports journalist for "Inside Swoop in 90." Both of these opportunities allowed him to gain valuable experience in various positions within the media world on both sides of the camera.

Seeing firsthand the energy fans bring to the stadium inspires Kyle to look beyond the obvious news stories and gain a better understanding of what makes people follow a particular writer or social media influencer. He watches how technology has given fans new ways to engage during the game while at the stadium, such as viewing a super fan’s live stream. These types of interactions make the experience more personal and give people a variety of ways to absorb information. He wants to share his knowledge of sports using multimedia to help people experience the game in their own way.

Above is an example of a show that I created while interning as the sports journalist for "Inside Swoop in 90."
